How to Preserve Your Veneers

Posted .

As you may know, dental veneers are thin shells designed to erase small gaps, brighten teeth, and to enhance the appearance of smiles in general. If you would like to enhance the appearance of your smile, we recommend dental veneers: if you’ve already had veneers, we hope you are enjoying your smile. But, whether you are planning on getting veneers or currently enjoying the appearance of your improved smile, there is a question you should consider: how long will veneers last?

Naturally, the answer varies from person to person depending on individual circumstances, but you should expect your veneers to last for at least ten years. However, there is good news. If you care for your veneers properly, they could last for more than twenty years!

Protecting your veneers takes practically no extra effort. In fact, all you have to do is maintain sound oral hygiene. Please remember though, that even those veneers are hard and stain resistant, they are not invulnerable. In fact, there are many drinks that you should avoid. For example, coffee and tea could stain your veneers. Similarly, munching on hard foods like popcorn kernels and whole almonds could crack your veneers—and your teeth. Also, you should avoid other habits like chewing on pens, pencils, or chewing on your nails.
