Got Enamel Erosion? Here Are Your Treatment Options

Posted .

Enamel erosion is a dental problem that occurs when acid attacks the tooth enamel and wears it down. As this happens, the teeth get weaker and weaker. This increases the chance of having one or more cavities. It’s best to treat your enamel erosion and keep your teeth healthy and strong. Our dentists, Dr. Scott Thompson and Dr. Sara Samaha, are happy to help you do so by giving you the recommendations you need. It’s best to do the following things to treat your enamel erosion in Essex Junction, Vermont:

-Increase your fluoride exposure (You can do this by using fluoride toothpaste or fluoride mouthwash or by drinking fluoridated water. Fluoride helps because it strengthens the tooth enamel.)

-Keep up on oral hygiene (It’s best to brush, floss, and rinse regularly. However, please wait 30 minutes to brush after you have consumed something acidic.)

-Visit your dentist regularly (Attend your checkups every six months.)

-Consider a dental bonding treatment (This is necessary when the enamel erosion is too extensive and dangerous.)

-Consider dental veneers (This is necessary when the enamel erosion is too extensive and dangerous.)
